The Pacific Climate Warriors are a grassroots, youth-led organization fighting climate change in the Pacific Island nations and the diaspora. The group of activists are made up of various peoples from the region, including countries like Fiji, Kiribati, and Papua New Guinea among many others. Their internal structure relies on a council of elders, as well as various teams doing work within their respective countries or regions.
The Pacific Climate Warriors challenge western-centric systems and work to leave the world better than it was found. Their communities are burdened with the immediate symptoms of climate change and are the most vulnerable to the lasting effects like rising sea levels and shifting temperatures. Their work includes taking action against the fossil fuel industry and uniting to create a more sustainable world for future generations.
The Pacific Climate Warriors are a group of Everyday Activists dedicated to the awareness and action against climate change globally. The group’s inspiring efforts are a dynamic example of how working together across various regions and countries can foster change.
“A warrior is resilient. A warrior is not aggressive or violent but is assertive. A warrior serves to protect their community, culture, land, and ocean. A warrior is always learning. A warrior responds to the needs of those around them and of the greater good. A warrior non-violently stands their ground against an adversary, injustice, and oppression. A warrior respectfully embodies their local culture and traditions. A warrior is accountable for their actions and words. A warrior serves those who cannot fight for themselves – future generations, animals, plants, and environments.”
