Recently, the Sankofa Impact team convened for our 2023 board and staff retreat! Programming stretched over four days and provided space for us to build community and chart the best way forward for the organization.
The weekend began with a successful open house at the Sankofa Impact office during which we hosted more than a hundred members of our alumni and broader community.
On Friday afternoon, our staff visited the Carpinito Bros Pumpkin Patch and we barely survived their corn maze. Afterwards, the staff were joined by the board at the Freedom Project offices in Renton. Orlando Ames led the team in a great session and our retreat was off and running.
On Saturday, we discussed strategic planning, development with Andrea Arenas, and a deep dive on communications. We also inducted two new board members! After a long day, we enjoyed a viewing of Patrinell at historic Washington Hall and broke comfort bread by Comfort Zone catering.
We reserved the last day of our retreat back in Renton as Somatics Sunday. Our board and staff grounded ourselves through a somatic session with briana herman brand and it was a reminder of the vital importance of mindfulness and body work.
We are clear on the work ahead for Sankofa Impact. We are steadfast in our commitment to anti-racist education. We remain an organization of community, by community, and for community. Be on the lookout for more information soon!
